The Canadian crooner told Vanity Fair that after breaking off his engagement with actress Emily Blunt in 2008, he was heartbroken and insecure.

“I was not a happy man for many years,” he said. “I never thought I could hold a relationship. No way. Because how could anyone love me if I didn’t? That sounds like a shrink would say it, but it’s the truth.”

After the break-up Bublè began to really look at himself and realize that he wasn’t getting any younger. He told the mag that fame can stunt your growth and he knew he needed to become an adult. Bublè even started reading the self-help book The Power of Now, which is all about spiritual thinking. He says the Oprah-recommended book was something he needed at the time.

“I started reading it, and I believed in it,” Bublè explained. “I started practicing it, and it was as simple as just being in the moment and being thankful for what I had and every day trying to be grateful and to try to work on myself. It was such a slow process, but it changed my life.”

He added, “Literally. If you talk to my mom and dad, they’ll tell you that I’m a different son. I’m present.”

Instead of making reservations over the phone, use an online service like Savored or Open Table to find availability at a restaurant. These services also reward you with a discount on the bill if you reserve through them so your meal will cost less!

Walking in hungry

They  say never to grocery shop while hungry and the same goes for dining out. Restaurant consultant Aaron Allen says a common mistake is over-ordering when you come to a restaurant famished. To avoid over-eating and over-paying, Allen suggests eating a small snack before you leave or splitting an appetizer to save on your wallet and appetite.

According to Allen, customers tend to tip more for service when the gratuity is suggested on the bill, but he suggests to tip based on the service itself, not the suggestions. Studies have also shown that customers are likely to tip 18 percent more when the server draws a smiley face on the check.

Drinking the house wine

Beware ordering the house wine at a restaurant, according to Allen, these wines are usually the worst value on the menu and the mark-up on the bottles are often high because restaurants know they’re an easy sell. Instead, he suggests to consider the imported wine selection like Chilean varieties or Malbecs since they’ve become more reasonable in price.

Ordering the wrong Vodka

When ordering a mixed drink, often times your server will ask which brand of Vodka or spirit you want in your drink. To lower you drink bill, go for the whatever is in the “well” instead of a premium spirit, which mixes fine with a tonic or juice, but costs about two-thirds less.

The destruction left behind after the storm is tough to watch, but through it all, amazing stories of survival and rescues have been coming out, like this happy ending for a victim and her pet dog.

You’ve most likely have seen this viral video make its rounds yesterday, but it’s worth to watch again and again. A tornado survivor who thought she lost her pet dog was being interviewed by CBS News when all of a sudden, her dog was found alive underneath the ruble of her former home.

Barbara Garcia told her story of being caught in the tornado’s path and how she took cover, adding that she lost her beloved pet dog in the chaos.

But in a miraculous moment on camera, someone spotted the dog under debris of the house and it was pulled to safety.

“Well, I thought God just answered one prayer – to let me be okay,” she said to CBS News. “But he answered both of them, because this was my second prayer.”

The unrated version of “Blurred Lines,” which Thicke premiered April, features several women sans clothing. YouTube quickly banned the naked clip, but not before it racked up more than one million hits.

“We just had a great feeling about the song,” Thicke told Carson Daly. “I made it last summer. I mean, I had it for about eight or nine months and Jimmy Iovine liked it, but nobody was really jumping all around the place for it.”

“And then we shot the video and Jimmy called me seven seconds into the video and he said, ‘This is a smash! This video is amazing!’”

When was the last time you just threw off all your cares and just got stupid with the one you love the most?

Make it a goal this weekend. 

According to Billboard, the university announced on Monday that Streisand would receive the degree for her “concern for human rights and dedication to Israel and the Jewish people.”

The Brooklyn-born singer and actress is expected to perform during a June conference celebrating the 90th birthday of Israeli President Shimon Peres.

Streisand will also hold two concerts in Israel on June 20 and 22 at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. Those performances will be Streisand’s first in Israel.

Numerous other artists have also made the trip to Israel, including Bob Dylan in June 2011 (his first appearance in Israel in 20 years) and Paul McCartney in September 2008. Billy Joel made Israel a destination for three concerts during his Glass Houses tour in 1980, playing one show in Jerusalem and two in Tel Aviv. Madonna performed in Tel Aviv in May of 2012 with a message of promoting peace.

Possibly the most outspoken artist to boycott performances in Israel comes from Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, whose 2006 visit to the West Bank turned him into a huge supporter of the cultural boycott of Israel. Waters even took credit for Stevie Wonder‘s cancellation of an appearance in Israel. 

In the last month though, Waters has talked of reconsidering his position on Israel after fellow members of the music industry spoke out about his views.

Elan joined Pat Prescott to talk about his journey from a music teacher to an in demand solo artist who will taking the stage at the San Diego Jazz Festival on May 25th.

Hailing from Barbados, Elan first started his musical journey in America after being awarded to a full scholarship to the esteemed Berklee College of Music to get his degree in music education. After teaching music for ten years, Elan finally decided to make the jump to recording music as a solo artist, which has been a lot of hard, but rewarding work.

“I’m growing… I’m always trying to work on my show, my presentation and I’m always trying to critique myself,” said Elan. “It’s been a wonderful journey growing as a person, as a musician, as an  artist trying to work my way up.”

All his hard work is paying off having just released his fifth studio album Tropicality that is a musical ode to the “colors, sights and sounds” of his vibrant home country of Barbados.

“‘Tropicality’ is really a summary of my life coming from Barbados to the United States,” he said.

Despite the rapid changes in the recording industry, Elan has become one of contemporary jazz’s breakout artists and has caught the attention and support of his musical peers. His new album features collaborations with many of esteemed artists including Jeff Lorber, Paul Brown and Peter White, who’ve encouraged him never to give up on his music.

“You make the most of it and these guys keep telling me ‘we’re seeing you out there digging in the trenches, we’re seeing you grind away and you’re the future of this art form so just keep doing what you’re doing, don’t get discouraged,’” said Elan. “So that’s really encouraging and all I can do is keep cranking out records and making music and playing my heart out on stage.”

Coming up this summer, Elan will tour with two other notable artists Jonathan Butler and Sheila E. as part of the trio Soul Of Summer, which kicks off at the first annual Payne Pest Management San Diego Jazz Festival on May 25th.

“I’m looking forward to this year, just meeting new fans and playing new cities that I haven’t played before,” he said. “I never in a million years would have thought that I would have had these kinds of opportunities.”

Mrs. Carter has always been a powerful figure in music, but on her latest song there is a new (and different) sense of confidence here. She starts off the track by letting people know she’s been working at this since she was a little kid and she’s no one-trick pony: “Told the world I’m gonna paint this town/ Now b****** I run this.”

On the track, a snippet of which debuted in Bey’s recent Pepsi ad, she continuously touts her power. She sings, “They love the way I walk/Cause I walk with a vengeance/And they listen to me when I talk/Cause I ain’t pretending.” She ends it all by explaining that it took some time for her to get this ego boost and she’s not giving up on it anytime soon. It’s almost as if she’s letting all the ladies know, “If I can do it, so can you.”

When she delivers lines like, “I can be bad if I want/I can say what I want/I can live fast if I want/I can go slow all night long,” it’s clear she’s not apologizing for anything anymore.
