LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Fans opened their hearts and handed over toys for children in need at the Rams-Falcons game Sunday.
It is the CHiPs for Kids toy drive and Linda Mathis was one of the first to stop by.
“What really hit me was that little boy who died.”
Mathis is referring to Luis Sanchez, the five-year-old killed when a suspected drunk driver smashed through his south L.A home. He was writing his letter to Santa at the time.
“All he wanted for Christmas was a bicycle! That’s why I bought 8 bikes,” Mathis said.
And although the CHP was collecting gifts at Rams Fanfest outside Memorial Coliseum the message was to give regardless of the jersey.
