Study: Students Do Better With More Attractive Teachers

By Sarah Carroll

Hot for teacher? Then it’s very possible you’re a straight A student!

A study conducted by UNLV found students perform better in school if their instructor is more attractive.

Researchers set up an experiment where students listened to an audio lecture while looking at a photograph of the teacher. One teacher was physically appealing and the other one was less so.

Students then took a test based on their comprehension of the material in the lecture. Students who were attracted to their teacher scored higher than those who weren’t. The hotter teachers were also more likely to receive positive reviews from their students.

The study was originally published in the Journal of General Psychology and you can read more about it here.
