Recall Issued For 29 Million Fitness Trackers Distributed In McDonald’s Happy Meals

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall Tuesday for 29 million fitness trackers that had been included in McDonald’s Happy Meals because they can cause skin irritation or burns to children.

McDonald’s decided to stop distributing the fitness tracker with Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals last Wednesday after receiving customer reports of skin irritations and burns from wearing the band.

Federal officials say McDonald’s received more than 70 reports of incidents, including seven reports of blisters, after wearing the wristbands.

“Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers which is why upon learning about concerns with these bands we acted swiftly to stop distribution of these products,” McDonald’s spokeswoman Terri Hickey said in a statement.
