L.A. To Move Epic Records to L.A.?

There have been rumblings for awhile, but now it seems official:  L.A. Reid will be moving Epic Records to the epic West Coast.

Yep–Sony Music is getting ready to make a splashdown on the Left Coast as Epic Records moves its headquarters from New York to Los Angeles. Chairman/CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who’s racked up  a bunch of recent successes, including No. 1 albums by DJ Khaled and Future and a No. 3 Billboard Hot 100 hit for “No” by Meghan Trainor, has told a source at  Billboard that his label’s new home will be  on the Sony Pictures Entertainment lot in Culver City.  That is,  once construction is completed on a new wing later this year — and it will bring with it “a convenience and an advantage.”

Sounds like “Stategery” to me.

After all, muses Reid, “Hollywood is an industry town — it’s music, TV, film and obviously the streaming services have a massive presence.  It’s a great way to connect the dots, as we consider Epic as much an entertainment company as it is a label.”

So bring on the entertainment, and consider us extra epic-ally  excited for the move.  And get ready for 94.7 The WAVE to welcome L.A. to L.A. with open arms!
