Excuse us while we pat ourselves on the back.
In a recent article, The Top 12 Radio Stations in L.A. for Music, the fine folks at L.A. Weekly named us the #2 top radio station in Los Angeles! While we would have liked to have been #1, we’ll take #2, beating out countless other music stations in our wonderful city.
Here’s what they had to say about us…
“The Wave has stopped hundreds if not thousands of people from losing their s&!t to road rage and no doubt saved many lives in the process. It’s also been the soundtrack to countless baby-making sessions and orthodontist waiting rooms. Its programming soothes and heals. Though this format exists in many other cities, The Wave’s early managers (when it was more focused on new age) refer to themselves as a “mood service” as opposed to mere radio station, which cues you into how seriously they take their calling. And it’s not all the obvious jams. They can hit you with some deep cuts, too. Whether it’s Sade or Paul Hardcastle or any other soldiers of the quiet storm, The Wave is essential listening.”
We know, as much as you do, we’re much more than a station heard in waiting or bedrooms, with even more artists than they list to keep you company no matter where you are such as Beyonce, The Weeknd, Ed Sheerhan, John Legend and Adele, just to name a few.
We’re a lifestyle. We’re The Soul of Southern California.
While we may be celebrating, unfortunately our friends at 93.1 Jack FM are not too happy about being left off the list, and have declared an all out war against the publication.
Thanks again LA Weekly for naming us #2 in Los Angeles. We’re honored.
There’s obviously a reason why we’ve been around since debuting in 1987.
