SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com/AP) — The destructive Sand Fire continued to burn across more than 37,000 acres Tuesday in Santa Clarita.
At this time, the blaze remains at 25-percent containment, firefighters said.
The following street closures remain in effect:
— Soledad Canyon Road east of the 14 Freeway and Bootlegger Canyon
— Agua Dulce Canyon, Ward and Placerita Canyon roads east of the 14 Freeway
— Little Tujunga Canyon Road at Wildlife Way Station
Most of the roughly 20,000 evacuees forced out by the fire have been cleared to go home.
A week of triple digit temperatures awaited the army of some 3,000 firefighters battling flames in rugged hills and canyons.
