Taylor Dayne Talks Freestyle Explosion, Acting and More

The Freestyle Explosion happens tomorrow night, Saturday, July 23,  at The Greek and people are excited about it.

I told Taylor Dayne, one of the stars of the next big show in The WAVE’s Soulful summer concert Series, that everybody I know is asking for tickets (click here to purchase yours). She called in to the morning show today to help us get ready for the concert tomorrow night and to catch up on what she’s been up to.

Taylor says the reason so many people are flocking to shows featuring our favorites from the eighties and nineties is that this music is the soundtrack of many of our lives.. Experiencing it again allows us to relive some of the special moments. She says that when she’s connected to music, she feels like she’s alive. Taylor has a lot to be proud of in her career. She is a legitimate crossover artist with top ten hits in three consecutive decades. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame three years ago.

If you haven’t been to one of her shows recently, you should know that she still looks and sounds great. Taylor says she tours a lot and she loves it because when she’s on stage there’s a connection with her fans and she needs that. Taylor has also done some acting and is currently considering some possible TV projects. She’s touring a lot now though, so time is precious. This year she’s working on writing her memoirs. I saw her in the musical Aida on Broadway and she was fabulous so I asked if she would be returning to the theater any time soon. She says she loves the theater and if the roles are right, she’ll take them.

Taylor has a recently released Greatest Hits project that features all the songs she’s been performing across the country and around the world. There are also a couple of new songs on the cd, including one she especially loves called “Born To Sing”. We talked about songwriting and how important an art form it is.
