George Lopez is a busy man. He’s been hard at work touring the country doing stand up and working on his popular new sitcom Lopez, and now he’ll spend the whole weekend this Saturday and Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl hosting the 38th annual Playboy Jazz Festival. George called in to the morning show to talk about the festival. Hope you’ll be able to join us!
This will be George’s fourth time hosting the festival. He says it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone. He loves this year lineup. We talked about some of the highlights. People are talking about Jon Batiste and Stay Human after seeing them every night on the Late show with Stephen Colbert, where they serve as the house band.
The festival pays tribute to B.B. King with a celebration of his life and music featuring the Robert Cray Band. Fourplay celebrates their Silver Anniversary as Bob James, Nathan East, Harvey Mason and Chuck Loeb return to the stage at the Bowl. It will be like a family reunion for George when he sees Pete Escovedo with Peter Michael, Juan and Sheila E. We both agreed there are bound to be tributes to Prince as well.
With all of these artists and many more, the festival will be better than ever this year. It’s not too late to get tickets. Visit www.HollywoodBowl.com/PlayboyJazz for all the details. We’ll see you at the Bowl this weekend!
