Ways To Volunteer In SoCal For ‘Make A Difference Day’

This Saturday, October 26th is Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. For over 20 years, this national event has been organized by USA Weekend Magazine and Points of Light as a “celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.”

According to the official site, “millions of volunteers from around the world will unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 26, 2013.”

The event invites all to give a helping hand by volunteering on projects held in their communities, often times organized by other corporations, communities, nonprofit organizations, entire states and individuals.

Here are a few projects we found listed in the SoCal area that are in need of volunteers this Make a Difference Day:

Baby Diaper Drive In World Famous Downtown Los Angeles,CA
Organized by: Downtown LA Baby Diaper Bank

Description: Volunteers will help collect baby diapers as they are dropped off at the site and help put them in on site storage.

Halloween Zootacular Event

Description: Help children at the OC Zootacular Halloween extravaganza! Help face paint, watch children, and volunteer wherever needed.

Community Clean Up w/ Yoga & Tai Chi & Film
Organized by: Heal One World

Description: Come get to know your neighbors, your neighborhood non-profit which provides free classes, like Tai Chi and Yoga. We noticed our area could use a clean sweep! Let’s meet at 10am and begin with a short meditation and then brief intro Tai Chi class to center and become focused.

Not only is it national Make A Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 26th, it’s also Worldwide Forgiveness Day. It’s a day to celebrate unconditional love and take the time to repair, restore, rebuild and revive damaged relationships in your life.
