If you were a fan of Angela Lansbury, then you are going to love this.
According to Deadline.com, NBC has ordered a pilot of a Murder, She Wrote reboot that will star Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer in the lead role.
The official description from NBC says, “This re-imagining of Murder She Wrote — from “Desperate Housewives” Executive Producer Alexandra Cunningham and starring Academy-Award winner Octavia Spencer (“The Help”) — is a light, contemporary procedural, in the vein of “Bones” or “Fargo,” following a hospital administrator and amateur sleuth who self-publishes her first mystery novel. Set in a day where sensational headlines inundate the news, this woman’s avid fascination with true crime leads her to become an active participant in the investigations.”
The original drama ran for 12 seasons from 1984-1996 and is considered one of the most successful shows in history. Over the course of its run, Lansbury earned 12 straight Emmy nominations and 10 Golden Globe mentions for Best Actress in a Drama Series, which she took home four awards from.
The reboot of Murder, She Wrote will also feature the same music from the original series.
