Many women think that even if there’s no family history of having breast cancer, then they won’t get the disease, but the truth is all women are at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
One of the major causes of breast cancer in women is by gaining weight. Dr. Oz explains that any woman who gains 25 pounds during her lifetime double their chances of being diagnosed with cancer.
“Everybody has cancer,” Dr. Oz explains. “But our immune cells are smart enough to be able to figure out that it’s there and attack it and take it out.”
More tips to keep yourself breast cancer free include giving self exams everyday at the same time, getting regular mammograms and exercising to lose extra weight. Risk factors for breast cancer include having children over 30, bottle feeding children, being overweight and early menstruating before age 12.
But the good news is that the survival rate for breast cancer has increased to 85% due to early detection and knowledge of the risks and treatments.
