It’s going to be Christmas in October with a new holiday album set for release from the current No. 1 selling R&B artist on the charts, Tamar Braxton.
According to Essence.com, the youngest of the Braxton siblings (and certainly the most outspoken) will follow up her hugely successful sophomore solo album Love and War with her very first Christmas release featuring her twist on holiday standards, in addition to new songs.
As Braxton herself puts it, the album, due out on Oct. 22nd, will feature a “whole lot of swagger and soul under the tree.”
Braxton is riding high with the success of her second studio album, which came out September 3rd and debuted at No. 1 one on the Billboard R&B Album Charts this week with 114,000 copies sold. According to Billboard, “Braxton sets the female record for longest time between an initial chart listing and a first No. 1 in this chart’s SoundScan era.”
She’s not the only R&B star who will be releasing a Christmas album this season, either. The Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, announced that she’ll be releasing her first Christmas album, A Mary Christmas, on Oct. 15th.
Looks like it will be more, the merrier when it comes to holiday music this season!
