Vocal group Pentatonix continues to outdo themselves when it comes to their sensational viral videos. Having just released a cover of Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” the group returns with a new stripped-down video that mashes up five centuries of popular music to take us through the ‘Evolution of Music.’

The group starts in the 11th century and mashes up the signature songs over five centuries all the way up to the current decade. What’s even more striking about the video is the attention to detail, which starts out in black and white until the group hits the 1960s when they suddenly turn “technicolor.”

Released on April 15th, Pentatonix has already reached nearly 2.5 million views of this musical history lesson. The group is currently finishing up a brand new album expected out June with a 2013 spring tour starting in April. For full tour dates, visit www.ptx-official.com.

Watch the video below and see how many songs you can make out in their mash-up!

In case you can’t make out every song, Yahoo Music broke down all the songs the group covered in the mash-up into decades below, so you can easily find your favorite song in the mix!
