They always say pictures are worth a thousand words, and that can very much be said about The WAVE’s Pat Prescott’s recent photo op with iconic artists Larry Graham of Sly & The Family Stone and guitar legend George Benson.

Pat had the pleasure of attending the Arizona Jazz Festival this past weekend at The Wigwam Resorts in Phoenix where she rubbed elbows with some of the fest’s performers. After the festival ended, she visited George Benson’s home for an post-fest party for Larry Graham, where she took this photo with the two artists.

This year’s Arizona Jazz Fest boasted a stellar list of performers including Jill Scott, Will Downing, The Isley Brothers, India.Arie, Mindi Abair, Jeffery Osbourne & Euge Groove, and many more over three music-packed days.

Though he didn’t play at the festival, Benson is gearing up for another big music fest at the New Orleans Jazz Festival on April 26th to kick off an international tour in support of his forthcoming album Inspiration: A Tribute To Nat King Cole. Benson will make a stop here in SoCal at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 11.

Benson also recently announced the release date for his new album set for June 4th, which features covers of Nat King Cole classics recorded with the 42-piece Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. The project was recorded with the help of special pledges from fans, with partial proceeds going toward Sandy Hurricane relief.

Benson even played his new album for Pat when she visited, which she called a “fantastic” tribute that would make Nat King Cole himself proud.
