Jazz supergroup BWB is coming back full force on its forthcoming tribute album Human Nature, a re-imagined take on eleven Michael Jackson favorites, set for release on June 18th, 2013.
Made up of talented musicians Rick Braun (trumpet), Kirk Whalum (saxophone) and Norman Brown (guitar), BWB first joined together back in 2002 on their collaborative effort Groovin’, but decided to make a comeback eleven years later for the fans.
“Every now and then, more often than not, somebody would come up and say ‘when are you guys going to do BWB again?’” Rick Braun told Pat Prescott in a previous interview. “So here we are…we’re back by popular demand. The fans demanded it.”
The trio pays tribute to the King of Pop’s classic hits spanning throughout his career from Jackson 5 to his solo releases like Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. BWB brings its own twist on songs like “Man In The Mirror,” “Shake Your Body Down To The Ground” and of course “Human Nature” for a fresh sound on some fan favorites.
In addition to Human Nature coming out this June, BWB has embarked on a supporting tour this spring/summer season. You have plenty of chances to catch the trio in the SoCal area as part of JazzFest West, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, Hyatt Summer Concert Series and the San Diego Jazz Fest.
