The Pantages Theatre is giving aspiring high school musical theatre students a chance of a lifetime to perform on stage for the 2nd Annual Jerry Herman Awards this May.
The Pantages is inviting all greater Los Angeles high school students to register their school’s musical production for a chance to participate in the awards ceremony that recognizes the achievements in high school theatre.
The Jerry Herman Awards is a local branch of the The National High School Musical Theatre Awards, known as the Jimmy’s, which takes place each year at Minskoff Theatre on Broadway in New York City. Each year, two local students are sent to NYC to represent LA in a week long workshop and compete for a coveted Jimmy award.
This local celebration of high school theatre is dedicated “to recognizing, encouraging, and rewarding achievements and excellence in high school musical theatre, as well as focusing much needed attention on the meaningful work being done by the dedicated arts teachers of Los Angeles.”
The Jerry Herman Awards takes place May 19th at the iconic Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.
