The Playboy Jazz Festival makes its grand return to the Hollywood Bowl on June 15-16 featuring a spectacular lineup of artists taking the stage over two nights.
This year’s festival introduces comedian/actor George Lopez taking over as the new Master Of Ceremonies after the fest’s longtime host Bill Cosby retired last year, reports Billboard.
Lopez is joined by an all-star lineup that includes George Duke with special guest Jeffery Osbourne, Sheila E., Bob James/
David Sanborn, India.Arie, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Taj Mahal among many others.
The fest, which marks its 35th anniversary this summer, will also see the debut of three new artists to the stage including vocal group Naturally 7 with special Guest Herbie Hancock; The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra performing a special tribute for Quincy Jones’ 80th birthday with special guests Patti Austin and Hubert Laws; and pianist Elew.
As a special honor, the Brubeck Brothers Quartet will perform a touching tribute to the late jazz great Dave Brubreck, who passed away last December.
