According to the British Heart Foundation, 90% of women want a simple hug for Valentine’s Day instead of a costly present. No offense to the British Heart Association but if I were you, I’d get a gift too, just in case.

You could always do what we’re doing and go to a basketball game. We’ll be checking out the Pepperdine Waves hosting the LMU Lions tonight but then that’s us. A lot of ladies will not be happy if you take them to a basketball game but here are three very cool things you could do here in Southern California.

Valentine’s Day at Descanso Gardens

Go to the lush gardens and take a romantic stroll among the camellias, a lovely tour and an evening to remember.

Valentine’s Day at Pacific Park

The Ferris wheel will be lit up with 160,000 LED lights plus the park is treating the first 500 couples with a free red LED rose and delicious chocolate kisses as they board from 5:30 to 9:30 pm this evening.

Valentine’s Day showing of Casablanca

Nothing says love like Casablanca, one of the most romantic movies of all time. And it’s a bargain! Enjoy 2-for-1 admission for couples for their Love on the Big Screen films during Valentine’s weekend.

See Casablanca tonight at 7:30pm and then this weekend, check out Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans and Gone With the Wind. Use promo code “Scarlet Sunrise” at the box office for discount tickets.
