Waiting For Jack: Poems of the Beat Era

  • When: Friday, November 16; 8:00 p.m.

Calling all poetry lovers, this event is just for you. “ Waiting For JACK: Poems of the Beat Era,” is a showcase featuring L.A. poets and personalities reading poetry influenced by beat poets like Jack Kerouac, Gregory Corso and readings from 1955 Epic Six Gallery poetry. The identities of the poets along with the poems they choose to read will remain unknown, until the night of the showcase. The excitement of last show is still buzzing from surprise performances by poet Jack Knott reading Bukowski with John Densmore of the Doors playing the bongo. In the true spirit of poetry, expect the unexpected, anything goes in this show!

Street Food Cinema Special Event: Arthur Christmas at the Grove

To celebrate the DVD/Blu-Ray release of Sony Pictures holiday animated adventure Arthur Christmas, The Grove will be hosting a Street Food Cinema with live music, amazing food , activities and a screening of Authur Christmas. Admission is free, but RSVP is required, so be sure to save your space by emailing amy@tilpr.com. Street side food service will be available for purchase by Umami Burger, Cheese Cake Factory and Dylan’s Candy.

Green Festival

  • When: Saturday November 17 and Sunday November 18th

Join hundreds of eco lovers as they gather on Saturday and Sunday at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the Green Festival. Cooking demo’s, eco- friendly fashion designs, exhibits, products, speakers and the latest eco- friendly solutions will be available to those who attend. Highlights include a fashion show from designer Rebecca Mink, author Kelsey Timmerman discussing his book “Where Am I Wearing?, Russell Simmons and more. Tickets are $10 for a one-day pass and $15 for a full weekend pass when purchased online (plus fees) and $15 and $25 at the door.

Tree Lighting at Santa Monica Place

  • When: Saturday, November 17; 6:00 p.m.

The holidays are defiantly here! There’s no place like a beachside Santa Monica Christmas- equipped with artificial snowfall and golly old St. Nick cruising down Third Street Promenade in a vintage fire truck in a grand. It’s all a part of his grand entrance to Santa Monica Place for their annual tree lighting ceremony. Expect circus acrobats, Christmas carolers, trumpeters and live music. Get in the holiday spirit on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Wilshire Boulevard.

The 40th American Music Awards

  • When: Sunday, November 18th

Justin Bieber, PSY, Kelly Clarkson, The Wanted, Swizz Beatz featuring Chris Brown and Ludacris, are just some of the music artist set to perform on Sunday at The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards ceremony. Stevie Wonder will also perform a touching tribute to AMA founder, Dick Clark. Tickets to see music’s biggest starts are available for purchase on ticketmaster.com ranging from $95 to $2,200.
