Just fresh off celebrating her 70th birthday on Sunday, The Queen of Soul [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Aretha Franklin[/lastfm] is working on a brand new album with one of her musical mentors, Clive Davis.
While celebrating her 70th birthday with a lavish party at Helmsley Park Lane Hotel on Saturday, Franklin revealed that she and music mogul Davis are reuniting for the album, plus gave an update on the current progress of her pending biopic.
During her birthday celebration that included dinner, dancing and a performance from jazz pianist Kris Bowers, Aretha revealed plans on some of her upcoming projects.
“I have re-signed with Clive Davis, so I’m recording with Clive again,” said Franklin of the music mogul, who is associated with Sony Music Entertainment.
Franklin said that after Davis’ birthday next month, “we’re going to sit together and decide what it is we’re going to record.”
Although we can look forward to new music from the Queen of Soul, you won’t be seeing her life story on the big screen anytime soon. She also gave an update on the progress of her biopic, saying that “It’s in a limbo position. It’s just a lot going on.”
Guests in attendance of her big celebration included Diane Sawyer, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Willie Wilkerson, her former fiance earlier this year.
