The Grammy-winning singer, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]El DeBarge[/lastfm], was arrested at 2 p.m. on Monday in Encino after police witnessed him participating in an alleged drug deal. DeBarge is now facing drug charges on suspicion of possession for sale of drugs.
DeBarge was later released the next morning after posting $30,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 9. Police arrested the singer on intent of selling drugs when police saw him and another man acting suspiciously.
Our sister-site CBS LA reports that “undercover narcotics officers were conducting an investigation near White Oak Avenue and the 101 Freeway when they spotted the 50-year-old Grammy winner and another man acting suspiciously,” which LAPD officials told the LA Times.
Know for his 1985 No.1 hit single “Rhythm In The Night,” this is the third time DeBarge has been arrested on drug possession since 2001. His brother, James, is currently serving time in jail after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges, according to TMZ.
