Since its addition to the TV Land Awards in 2008, the Music Icon honor has been awarded to such prestigious acts like Lionel Richie, Earth, Wind and Fire, Blondie and Hall & Oates, and now the Queen of Soul will join that list.
Aretha Franklin was named this year’s recipient of the Music Icon award during the 10th annual TV Land Awards next month. The 69-year-old legend will be honored at the upcoming ceremony, and will likely perform during the telecast of the show.
The 10th annual TV Land Awards is hosted by talk show host Kelly Ripa and will take place on April 14th in New York, and later air on April 29 on TV Land.
The award ceremony pays tribute to stars from classic TV, movies and music, and reunites an entire TV cast from past beloved sitcoms every year. More honorees for the awards will be announced soon.
