Move over American Idol and The Voice, there’s a brand new singing competition show coming to town. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Queen Latifah[/lastfm] is producing the next star-making talent show premiering on the CW later this year tentatively titled The Star Next Door, which will feature these two big music icons as the show’s mentors.
The new CW talent show will feature the expertise guidance from music star [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gloria Estefan[/lastfm] and country musician [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]John Rich[/lastfm] as the show’s mentors. Queen Latifah is taking the producing reigns along with Biggest Loser creator Dave Broome, and the CW network has already ordered 10 episodes of the new show for the summer season.
The Star Next Door will slightly stir up the formula from competing talent shows by focusing on the contestants’ home towns. Starting with a nation-wide talent search, once the contestants are chosen, the mentors will then visit the singers’ homes and immerse themselves in their local culture.
