One of The WAVE’s favorite artists, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]John Legend[/lastfm], is one of those who popped the big question to his supermodel girlfriend, Chrissy Teigen over Christmas!

Legend, 32, proposed to his girlfriend Teigen, 26, over Christmas break while the two were vacationing in the Maldives, Legend’s rep reported to Us Weekly. The couple began dating in 2007 and are ready to officially tie the knot in the new year!

Teigen, known for her work as a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit supermodel and one of the models for two years on Deal Or No Deal, joked on her Twitter after he popped the question with the announcement:

Along with the happy news of his engagement, Legend will ring in 2012 with a performance Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort on New Year’s Eve.
