Perhaps it’s my Mediterranean heritage or that I was raised on a very ‘long’ island, but I love all things akin to the sea. Combined with my love of parades, I’m thrilled to be named Santa’s Co-Grand Marshal in the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade this Saturday!
The fun starts with fireworks at 5:55 PM off the south jetty as joyfully lit and decorated vessels circle the main channel for the next two hours. This year’s theme is “Christmas Carnivale,” and we expect a bounty of festive new displays.
The best spots to see and hear the parade free of charge are Burton Chace Park on Mindanao Way and Fisherman’s Village on Fiji Way. There are free parking and boat launching at L.A. County public parking lots throughout Marina del Rey.
And Marine Animal Rescue is this year’s Parade Partner! They’re good people who’ve saved thousands of sea birds, fish, turtles, and marine animals over the years.
So, ‘weigh anchor’ and catch me and The WAVE with these hearty sailors Saturday evening. Bundle up and bring family and friends for a night that we’ll all remember!
