According to reports from SBnation.com, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm] will be providing the entertainment for the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this February 5th.
Football season has barely just begun, but plans are already in the works for the 2012 Super Bowl. Madonna is reportedly set as the Halftime performer for this upcoming Big Game day in Indianapolis in February, which will be her first time performing at the major sporting event.
Madonna has been approached to perform at the Halftime Show twice before, but plans fell apart. In 2008, she was the rumored performer for the Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami and Super Bowl XXXV two years later, but plans fell through for both shows.
Madonna will follow in the steps of the more conservative Halftime Show performers in recent years since 2004′s infamous Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” with classic acts like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Paul McCartney[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Rolling Stones[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Prince[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers[/lastfm],[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Who[/lastfm], and a bounce back to a more modern act last year with the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher[/lastfm].
What do you think of Madonna as the next Super Bowl Halftime performer?
