[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jennifer Hudson[/lastfm] has come a long way since an unknown contender and finalist on the third season of American Idol all those years back. In a recent interview with Self magazine, Hudson opens up about her weight loss journey to a healthier, happier physique that she is more proud of than winning her Oscar.

It took personal dedication and extreme motivation for Jennifer Hudson to slim down from a size 16 to an incredible size zero, which is why she tells Self magazine that, “I’m prouder of my weight loss than my Oscar!”

The singer opened up about losing 80 pounds in her recent interview with Self, recalling that “I didn’t even know I was considered plus-sized until I came to Hollywood. I thought I was the perfect size!”

She also recalled a time when “an interviewer asked, ‘How does it feel to be plus-sized in Hollywood?’ I looked around, like, Who is she talking to? Oh, me? I’m plus-sized? In the neighborhood I’m from in Chicago, a 16 is normal. But in Hollywood, everyone looks exactly the same, so I stood out.”

Now the spokesperson for Weight Watchers, Hudson has taken control of her weight and lives a healthier lifestyle not just to conform to the typical Hollywood image, but for herself, which is inspiring others to do the same.
