Talaya’s Photo Op With Sade In 1985

Well, I dug up this photo and am so proud of the fact that I was one of the first jocks to play Sade’s first project Diamond Life on the radio. The album was first released in the U.K. in 1984 and KUTE 102 “The Quiet Storm” played it as soon Epic Records representative, Maurice Warfield (shown in the photo) brought it to the station!

This was taken at her Los Angeles release party in February 1985. Long time ago! She is touring again and hopefully you’ve got your tickets because she is better than ever.

Sade is a wonderful woman and her genuine talent is beyond words. Join me at Icon Ultra Lounge on Friday night before the show for our free Sade pre-party…I’ll be giving away Sade tickets for that same night!

See you then!

I’ve heard you mention this story a few times over the years, and I get so sentimental everytime I hear you recollect those memorable times! I’m so grateful and honored that you shared this lovely picture with us! I recall you stating that you spoke to Sade again a few years later, and that she mentioned that she got the line “There’s a quiet storm, and it never felt like this before….”, Sweetest Taboo, from visiting the station…I do remember Kute 102, but back in the day, I was listening to your sister station…the one that played New Wave in the 80’s ;)

We’ll be at Staples this Friday…wish we could join you at Icon, but our nine year old (who you met at Spaghettini on Sade’s b-day, this year) will be with us…besides, can’t risk being late to Staples….I’ve been waiting to see her in concert again, since September 2001!!!

    Thank you so much Talaya!!!

Thanks Esther…and you are right about “the quiet storm” line in The Sweetest Taboo.
Maybe I will see you Friday at the show!
Thanks for being a long time listener!

Thank you so much Talaya! We’ll be sitting on Floor 3, Row 8…we would love to see you again! I don’t know if you’ll remember us…I was pretty tipsy when we met you at Spags on January 16th this year…LOL…you were so kind to us three, especially to our boy! I told you we were celebrating my belated b-day, and Sade’s…and that we were so happy The Wave was back at Spaghettini! You are all so kind and gracious everytime we’ve met any of you, and you don’t know how much it means to me…thank you!

Talaya, “And what will you be wearing? Shone like a souped-up car in that rent-a-go-kart town…wicky wacky party to the…” See you at Staples, where the City of Angels will once again be graced by the presence of a lovely angel, Sade!!!
