Obviously, we’re a little spoiled here in southern California, with so many miles of coastline and beaches to visit. But what other locales are looking good for sand-lovers? Find out what one prominent travel magazine calls America’s Best Little Beach Towns after the jump!
The list includes standout beaches such as Rockport, Tex. and Rehoboth, Del. that often get overlooked for more famous nearby locales. The Silver Lake Sand Dunes area of Michigan also proves that a beach doesn’t have to be on an ocean to be beautiful.
Chincoteague, Vir., Lubec, Maine, Gearhart, Ore., Sunset Beach, Hawaii and Boca Grande, Fla. round out the top of the list.
Only one beach even near southern California made it into the list, with Santa Cruz holding a spot for the central California coast.
Of course, with 22 towns in the list, there are a couple of reaches: Long Beach, NY, for instance, is hard to shoe-horn into the “little” category. But no matter which one you pick, it would be hard to go wrong with a vacation to any of these spots.
What are your favorite beach towns? And do you need to go on a vacation to a far away beach with so many great ones in the area?
